We had breakfast at church on Saturday and listened to Lisa who writes a column in the Ontario Farmer. "Adventures on the Farm". Marc likes to wear my Calgary bought hat.

Vandalism

Our mailbox didn't last long. We got it from our dutch friends just over 2 years ago. This is the second time it met up with vandals.

Barn Open House

We were parked quite far from the lane, but these guys could go closer.
Only in Mennonite country

All to see a new milking robot in action. It is a nice open barn. The robot worked different then a Lely, less free cow trafic.

Cantata practise

The choir was practising for Easter yesterday. The cantata is called "He's Alive". Rien and Olga are in the choir, Marc is Jesus (youth). 11 years ago Marc was Jesus too (the baby) in this same cantata. We have done several others in the meantime but this one was and is my favourite.

Perth Farm Tour

There was a variety in farms 3 tie stalls. It's fun to see the pens of the younger animals. It can be a maze.
There were also 2 free stall barns

Julia found the best part (according to the boys), little donuts.

Lamb's Leg Bone

For Passover we wanted to have a leg bone, so we started with a lamb's leg from New Zealand. It seemed huge to me.
But in the end it looks like the same size I've seen at other Passover plates.
It's drying in our window sill.

dissapointing calf


We had a cow that didn't get pregnant so we used mixed semen, sometimes that helps. It could have been a Holstein or Hereford or Jersey. A female we would have kept and would have added some variety to our herd. It was a cute Jersey bull value $0
