Growing Season

Apple Blossom in full bloom

so pretty

spinach

flowering strawberries

and the hayfields look good
rain threatens

and because of high temperatures and lots of moisture
the weeds are massive

so we do need to do weed control in wet soil

because more rain is on the way

I'm remembering a summer student who said
It never seems to rain normally here

screenshot
we've had quite a few records this month
and now cold weather is on it's way again

Wildlif Camera

we only saw equipment on our camera

kind of fun but not much to see after planting

we only saw some ears of deer passing by

so we turned the camera and had up to 4 deer in the picture
this one of 3 deer is better though

Birds on our Deck

We see quite a few birds

big and small

lots of Orioles

sugar water in a bowl is easy and cheap

Rosebreasted Grosbeak

Not sure what this bird is

we still have goldfinches too

Evening Pasture

It doesn't take long and it's to hot in the daytime

so the cows go out in the evening

they stay out all night and seem to love it

Hockley Valley

so happy to be back on the trail

lots of up and down here Strava says 348m elevation

The Trilliums were out

Jack-in-the-pulpit

we did the 2 bottom loops 11.8 km

no mud on the trail but lots of water in the creeks

I remembered taking a picture in this place 28 June 2016

this is the picture, it's pretty in June too

and a lot less blackflies that time of year,
 something to consider next time

To Much Wind

we anticipated lots of rain, we didn't get as much...

...but we got lots of wind

don't think we'll eat many slicing beans this year

Home Crop Tour

On Sunday we walked around the farm

the winter wheat is't growing fast yet

I'm still bad at selfies

taking a picture before the rain

but we only got 33mm or so
half or a third what was predicted, that's good!

the bean field looks so smooth c
considering we had it tile drained
