Looking Back: water is a big deal

In a country with only one big fresh water lake
only about 22km long and 12km wide

and only 1 river, the Jordan
and not very wide at all

Water in this country is a big deal

 Coming from the Netherlands,
20 years ago I didn't even know the word cistern
It's a place where they collect water
in such a dry country we went on an ABC tour

 Another
Blessed
Cistern

Huge cisterns with 2000 year old plaster still holding

Although the Jordan is the only river, there are wadis
They flood once every year or decade or so
wadi is often translated river

 Here is the view

 with the accompanying sign
river???

In the bible river images are usually wadi images

By this great Acacia tree we listened to Psalm 1

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in company of mockers
but whos delight is in the law of the LORD
and who meditates on his law day and night
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water

To see a tree this big you know there must be water once in a while
When people see you or me they should be seeing
someone that has their roots in water
living water
