Monday on family day Marc went for a spin with Curtis

There was only enough snow in the ditches

but there it was good

Overnight Dusting

 We had a bit of snow overnight this weekend

 If you see this pile you'd almost think we had snow at one time

But for Canada it's a pitiful amount

Maintaining an ice-rink

 Most small Mennonite schools have a rink

This year it's very difficult to maintain

Freezing Rain

Marc didn't have school yesterday

freezing rain made the roads very icy

Coffee Cluster driving

 On Sunday the road to church was only track bare

 some times we couldn't see much at all

 The only real drifts were close to home

Calving part 3

This calf's legs are a bit more coarse

we almost always hope for a heifer but  because of the legs

we already suspect a bull calf

 There it comes

 Confirmation, yes it is a bull

But alive and well

Calving part 2

The black cow (first calver) is the mom

The whiter cow (also a first calver)

is lifting her tail

 We don't want a mix up so the oldest calf

9 hours old

is tagged and moved to the calf barn

 Tags are mandatory and a good idea anyway

This time I was waiting with my camera

She is starting to calf

This will be the 3rd calf of the day

Calving part 1

 The calving pen is full

Rien has already put fresh straw in 2x

The second calf of the day, another heifer

The first calf made us late for church

getting milk

another first calver will have her calf soon

an indication sign is that milk is squirting 

all by itself

Warm Weather Record

 There was a warm weather record this week

 We sure are having a different kind of winter 

Misty is sad

The veterinarian is not sure what is wrong with Misty

we suspect she might have had a stroke

I kind of like this one
