New Seeding

Just home we right away cut the new Seeding

next day merging

and harvesting

was surprised to see only one truck
and Marc driving it

the other truck had broken down, but so close to the bunks

this was the best place it could happen
it didn't take long and the truck was fixed

and the feed was in the bunk and covered

Cache Lake

We went to a program about Cache Lake

Cache Lake was the site of the Highland Inn
mostly rich people stayed there

but you wonder
the train was right in front

must have been noisy and stinky at times

The railway was very important until the trestle bridge was not safe anymore

the Highland Inn

Would have been fun to see some remnant

but the only things left are the cement steps

and the fire hydrant, not very exciting

The job has changed much for park rangers
they used to kill wolves, now they are studying and preserving them

The land rent for the current private properties has exponentially
gone up, to discourage private property in the park
also environmental rules are expensive for property owners to comply
and if people want to sell, the government will buy
and clean up and bring it back to nature

Blueberries

There were blueberries but
it was hot and there were deer flies
so we didn't pick that many

enough for pancakes
and a few extra

yummy

Rien and I did most of the cooking,
so Marc and Corinne did most of the dishes

picking blueberries we always hope to see a bear, but no

we did however see more Moose, a Bull and a cow

Canoeing

we have our own canoe

used it quite often at Canisbay

and canoeing from Lake of 2 rivers to WhiteFish

that's group camping, an instructor was teaching kids

what to do when you fell out of your canoe

we went for a canoe trip starting at Cashe Lake

It was tough paddling at places

we went to island lake

couple of portages

going back was so much faster, with the wind helping us

Next big trip only for Marc and Corinne

start at Cashe lake

going down the Madawaska

They didn't take pictures of the many beaver dams
so I'm showing an old picture

looks like he wore his life Jacket

stop at Mew

Finish at 2 Rivers
