Cement

 

we're pouring a cement pad between silos and shed

the first truck is here

and later the pumper truck came

the cement trucks now put the cement in the pumper truck

spit out some cement, to get it working right

then go finish the cement pad

Tearfund

 

we went to a meeting to hear about the work of tearfund

in Ethiopia 

the women do all the work

tearfund is not giving money, but education

they teach mulching, intercropping and no-till

(the government teaches to plow 5-7 times

and because of that erosion is rampant)

the women that try it have enough food for their own family

and even some to sell and share

and it happens in the first year

Teen Challenge visit

We had teen Challenge sing at our church

and give testimonies

Teen challenge is a place where addicts 18+ can go

it's success rate is impressive , it's a Christian organization

and that's the heart of their success

they get something better than addiction; knowing Jesus

they stayed for lunch and sang a "thank you" song

I talked to Frank and Daryl

for dessert we brought strawberries

from our own garden

 

Dust control

 

we feel bad for our next door neighbours

they've been in the dust from our lane a lot

so we had dust control put calcium on our laneway

Gravel

 

we got 2 loads of gravel to make our lane more smooth

it was devided so nice, we didn't do any leveling

brucetrail concession street to Paramount Park

 

we parked at Concession street, parking with a view

went down to a road

and more down the wentworth stairs 498 steps

but the Brucetrail only goes over the bottom part

there are 5 sets of stairs in Hamilton, these are popular

easy hike on the rail trail

there's only so many roads off the mountain

mostly we had this kind of trail

we put our feet in the water

last part

and a stop at Albion Falls

all fenced in $75 ticket if you go down 

we talked to park officers, if they catch you

 going down on the other side it cost over $300

Bunk Silo

 

This is where the new bunk silo will come

beside the other 4

Quite a few loads of soil

4 scoops and the truck is full

It looks smooth

Sunday Man Choir

on Father's day we had a Men Choir

and an organist, who loved to play while they sang

More guys in the choir than I expected

 

Cleaning the pond

because of the nice weather

there's some algae

mostly on the side between plants

we took quite a bit out, looks much better

first time we have ever done this

Rien between the reeds

there are nests in the reeds

probably redwing blackbird

 

Sheep Moving

the sheep are very crowded 

this coverall used to hold goats

so there are water lines in the ground

now there's a bowl and gates

hay and straw are in

and the sheep have moved

lots of room here

 

Mulch

Rien put the mulch on

the garden looks great

it's the manure kind, so good to improve the garden
