Caledon Hills club brucetrail

 

after the big hills

we crossed a style

and the airport road

into a much gentler area

they change the trail a bit in the winter

becouse of all the cross country shie trails

we stopped for lunch, sat on some rocks

such a beautiful day

lots of lines

but sap was not yet running

sugar shack 

and a gazebo

last stretch 

parking lot entrance was getting muddy

this parking lot is on Hockley Valley road

made it up our first hill, from the parking lot

must be a popular loop, they have a sign

we brought hiking poles

and put on crampons,

 but yacktracks worked better in this kind of snow

I got iceballs under my crampons

many lines on the map

so the hills are steep

on our way to the top on the right

the hikingpoles were very helpful 

Winter returnes

then we got some ice

not so much

but still enough to cover the signs of Spring

today snow and so cold -15C this morning

we hiked nicely high

we came to the gravelpit bridge

not very busy this time of year

nice view other side

we saw quite a few turkey vultures

last time it was a coming and going of gravel trucks

they're gearing up for the season

more crevices 

and lots more rocks

down the road to the car

could have been muddy here but it was below 0C

most hiking was rocky but dry

lots of ash trees are coming down
