Winter Job

 

It's winter and trees are being harvested

January Rainbow

it was there for quite a while

the snow is disapearing

we had family over for Rien's birthday 

and lots of friends

 

Tile Drainage

 

this is the bigger main drain 

the ground is frozen so it comes up in chunks

the main drain goes to 2 farms over

done is the front piece

on to the back field

the Hi Hoe has moved on

setting up to start tiling

the wider tiles are on the tractor

threading the tiles in the tiling machine

everything set

we can move

It's a small World

 

we've had above 0C temperatures

snow is melting a bit

and it's often foggy

We've had little sunshine

I even took a picture when it just peaked out

a pink horizon 

this is more like it

and we even saw the sun go down

but all in all, not much

we have security cameras for many years already

just checking if the mechanic is done

evening feeding

overview, our most used is the calving pen

Little Lamb

 

this lamb looks bigger than it is

it's a small box

she was cold so we gave her a 40C bath

we milked the sheep

she was is a good ewe trying to nurse her lamb

the next morning the lamb was out of the box

but not walking right 

not drinking very good either

Cabin / Bunkie near the pond

after a yummy soup, making pies on the stove

we played 2 games of canasta

this was fun!

Winter driving

 

visibility can be an issue

nice when the trees block the blowing snow

sometimes it's clear

the farm

we went to put the heater by the milk feeder

easy to get things frozen when it's -18C

Sheep barn

 

she's the king of the castle

these 2 are close in age

but not in size

time for a drink

we changed the colour in the ram breeding harness

it's working

the sheep are in the allee 

one by one they go back in the pen

they get medication and an eartag

and clipped hooves

Winter Storm

 

yesterday morning it started nice

but we got snow and wind

it starts to drift

door is covered

windows too

we had a candle and a flashlight out,

 but we didn't loose power
