Welland Canal Brucetrail




we walked beside the 3rd Welland Canal
1887-1931


the old locks are now rapids


making room for a subdivision
the trees are shredded 


our group


on the way to the fourth Welland Canal


crossing over the bridge


no big boats to see today


Spring flowers


lunch time and it's warm


another old canal, I believe the second canal
from 1848

Brucetrail Thorold

We met up with Moria


she even brought muffins still warm from the oven


she was our trail angel


after a hug we went off to hike


first passed the golf course


mostly dry mud


we met with trail maintenance 


the weather was so nice we even saw a few snakes

the grocery store is open until 9pm
but at 8.15 it doesn't look like there is much
better shop in the daytime

we put the snowblower away


still ice in the pond so the dock is not going in yet

we also cleaned the filter in our septic tank
we found out when the drains didn't work
that we had a filter that should be cleaned
occasionally

for pancakes


and a wagon ride


only 1 wagon this year



it's fun


people came from far away
but had local connections


horses can make sharp corners

Caledon Hills club brucetrail

 














after the big hills


we crossed a style


and the airport road


into a much gentler area


they change the trail a bit in the winter


becouse of all the cross country shie trails


we stopped for lunch, sat on some rocks


such a beautiful day


lots of lines


but sap was not yet running


sugar shack 


and a gazebo


last stretch 


parking lot entrance was getting muddy
this parking lot is on Hockley Valley road
