Corn silage is in the bunk

 

Marc's first time in packing a bunk silo

 

 

I picked him up from school so he could pack

 

 

After he'd gone to work, Rien took over

The corn was good for moisture

 

 

and the yield was good, 2 full bunks

 

Freezing Kale (boerenkool)

 Kale for the freezer:

pick the bottom leaves

 

Wash them

 

 Stuff them in a pillow case, into the freezer

 

 

 

after they freeze, hit the pillowcase with your fists

the leaves will fall off the stems in little pieces

take out the stems and put the kale in plastic freezer bags

 

 

 

 

 



Rain again

We had enough rain again but it looks like nice weather tomorrow

2 weeks ago we made a pile of corn silage to ferment



fermented feed is better for the cows and the silage corn is not ready yet

The pile is at the Williams farm

 

 

Now we have to drive down to the Williams farm to get corn silage

 

 

we only need one big bucket, so it's not a big deal
