Day 7 mount Arbel

 We arrived in the Galilee
there is green grass under our feet

devotions and Shema

it rained a few drips the night before and
you are not allowed to climb Arbel
if it rained the previous 24 hours
we are waiting for permission to climb

so we'll see a cow

and a few goats

it's a go
we may proceed

a few selfies

I knew Rien was sitting behind me

and Carter likes to photobomb

the goats depart
and we talk about where we are at Arbel
a place where people went to hide
In the Greek period it was "be Greek or die"
people chose to die

So many Jews die because they want to be faithful
and about 50.000 die during a civil war
it took 6 years 99-93BC

after an open air washroom break
we go through one of the caves

caves where Zealots were hiding because of king Herod
Herod killed 50.000 people in one day
the Jews do not call him Herod the Great
just Herod

we go up the mountain a bit

looking down on the Galilee
the lake is not very big 21x13 km
but it is deep 43 meters at the deepest

quite a few people love edges
Kevin is one of them

now we get to seriously climb

pretty steep here

walking here where there was so much suffering

you understand why Jesus' message
"love your enemies"
was such a difficult message

How many times do I forgive?
70 x 7 you have to outforgive evil

almost there Marlene

so many love to help

glad we made it (Sharon)

nice photo-op (Gavin)

we join in too

display how Herod attacked the Zealots
(Glenn)

We are not the only once here
lots of kids
In Israel a lot of history is learned
by going to the places where it happened
