talk about the parable of the 4 trees in
Judges 9 Jotham tells this parable ;
the trees choose a king
but not a very good choice :
the thornbush said to the trees
if you really want to anoint me king over you
come and take refuge in my shade
this tree (the thornbush) is one that kills
any other tree in it's neighbourhood
it's a biblical picture
this post is the border of the town
it's a sabbath's walk from where the houses end
We're at the gate of the ancient city of Gezer
in the manger would have been water for a thirsty traveler
we usually sat on a rock
here you can see that the gate had 3 rooms on either side
that dates it to the time of Solomon

has been a "standing stone" for us
someone who showed us faith
