Day 2 part 1 Wadi Zohar

We liked breakfast, so many choices

6 am wake-up

6.30 breakfast Marcello Alec and Carter

up to the bus

dropped off at the wadi

Deuteronomy 32:
In a desert land he found him (Israel)
In a barren and howling waste.
He shielded him and cared for him
he guarded him as the apple of his eye

first the path was wide

it got narrower

and more climbing

The desert is God's land
That's where we find out what's in our heart

there are caves, Bedouin will leave food for travelers
in such places

this cave floods in the rainy season
and has water in it for 3 weeks, quiet water

Psalm 23: He leads me beside quiet water

a mustard plant

Mathew 13:
the kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed

smallest seed, that's all God needs

walk a bit more

next lesson in the shade of an acacia

only a few of us fit under

desert is relentless

hot, beautiful

thirsty

this is the common shade "tree" of the desert

a broom tree or Rotum

Psalm 121: the Lord is your shade
(as close)
as your right hand

our Drayton area group

we keep going

Israel was 40 years in the desert
the meaning of 40=enough

Deuteronomy 8: Remember
how the Lord led you
all the way in the wilderness
these 40 years
to humble and test you
in order to know
what was in your heart
whether or not you would keep his commands

but a good hike

here I was running out of steam
after this I put electrolytes in all my water

at the end we met up with some camels

likely Bedouin
