Day 12 afternoon Bethlehem

Herodium palace of Herod

In 2007 his tomb was found here

they'd been looking for it for a while

here's the model of his tomb

The swimming pool is large
down by the foot of the mountain

we go through the tunnels

dry and dusty, up and up

arriving inside the palace

The palace was quite large and beautiful

group picture

go up to view the surrounding area

villages surround Herodium
this one is about the size of Bethlehem 2000
years ago, now it's a big city

earlier we visited a cave to have a bit of an idea
what the birthplace of Jesus may have looked like

sitting in the door, what a shepherd would have done
we often "cleean up" Christmas
but the biblical picture is that Jesus
entered chaos to bring shalom
and He did it close to the beautiful palace Herodium

back at Herodium
time to take some "family pictures"

and they took ours

This is day 12
