the food was so good
even if breakfast was early as usual 6.30
Today Gamla a visit to this Zealot stronghold
about 9000 people lived here the year 67
the year the Romans came to fight them
Zealots took this scripture to heart:
Numbers 25:
An Israelite man brought into the camp
a Midianite woman...
when Phineas... saw this he left the assembly,
took a spear in his hand
and followed the Israelite into the tent.
He drove the spear into both of them,
right through the Israelite man
and into the woman's stomach...
The Lord said to Moses
Phinehas... the priest has turned
my anger away from the Israelites.
Since he was zealous for my honour among them
so the Zealots choose to fight
because it's biblical
Jesus said; Love your enemies
and he had a zealot as a disciple
the Romans had no mercy for these freedom fighters
It seemed they were betrayed by Joseph ben Matthew
(who later became Josephus)
The Romans killed 4000
the other 5000 jumped off the back of the hill
to escape from the Romans
they jumped to their own death, so tragic
What are we zealous for?
we continued to Caesarea Philippi
what happened there is x-rated
and amazingly Jesus brought his disciples there
he said: On this rock I will build my church
the church should replace what happened here
we go to places regular tourists do not go
Omrit, a temple to Caesar Augustus
The one in the Christmas story
Who had his own Advent, his own gospel
taxes also had to be paid,
how much and who was determent by way of a census
Luke 2
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree
that a census should be taken in the entire Roman world
Joseph and Mary might not have had a
good welcome in Bethlehem because
they showed up to be counted
the people of Bethlehem
would have to pay more taxes
A Druze man walked by
Their believe is that the messiah will be born by a man
and because they do not know when and by who
they take precautions by having a piece of cloth between their legs
so if they'd have the baby it wouldn't fall to the ground
strange!
