Day 1 Shephelah

 

we often got on or off the bus at the side of a road

this time up a steep hill

we all get around David to hear the story of where we are

we are at the Elah valley, where David met Goliath

Just above Marleen's head was where the Philistines were

we're at the Israelites side 

this is Shaaraim (city of 2 gates) 1 Samuel 17:53

They found the 2 gates and possibly a palace

This is the Shephelah, the foothills

this is where different cultures meet

who's worldview is going to be the dominant one?

where we live is the Christian worldview dominant 

(looking out for each other)

or the secular worldview? (it's all about me)

even if you follow a trail you have to scale barriers

here we are at the wadi in the valley, the likely place

for David to have picked up smooth stones to sling towards Goliath

why did David (a young boy) do this?

1 Samuel 17:46

This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands

and I'll strike you down and cut off your head

This very day 

I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army

to the birds and the wild animals and

The whole world will know 

that there is a God in Israel

 We have all been given gifts (stones)
